It's one thing to see something on the news about excessive force happening to a person and still feel a disconnect to where a person can just move on with their life and not think twice about it. It's a completely other thing to experience it first-hand and have the consequences of it affect your everyday life because they just do not stop breaking the law and something major has to happen for them to discontinue their illegal actions against you. Then there's the case about officers in uniform stalking, which presents further problems at a distance that provokes further actions from victims to go on a search for further proof to report.

Seeing a cop car marked with the words Police Department or Sheriff can present a false sense of security because it depends on who is behind that wheel in those vehicles. One does not know unless something occurs and then a face-to-face interaction happens. These occurrences have happened to me in various places while in and out of homelessness out on the street, staying at a shelter, and living in my vehicle. In certain locations, they have particular common behaviors and actions they attempt to display secretly unless caught. Read on for some examples of places where I have frequently bumped into dirty cops within the past year and a half.

  • Circling your vehicle at parking lots. I call this "sharking".

  • Following behind at storage facilities.

  • Frequently u-turning on Highways, Turnpikes, and Expressways.

  • Gym Establishments, especially those considered family gyms.

  • Lurking around houses in the middle of the night in both marked and unmarked cars.

  • Sitting in one or more parked vehicles at the gas station or other local businesses stalking.

  • Parked in running cars near dumpsters or fences.

  • Sneaking in back alleys.

  • Slyly tucked away by railroad tracks.

  • Walking secretly in packs at night in residential areas awaiting to do an illegal raid.

  • Dishonestly following people in vehicles without lights turned on for a lengthy amount of time.

  • On main streets "clown-carring" in a bunch that looks suspicious.

  • Looping in empty parking lots late at night.

  • Inching slowly in front of the mall in the parking lot.

If you're experiencing the same, here are some reminders to take with you:

In the face of danger, choose #courage and #speakup.

Please #becareful and try to #besafe.
