Human Traffickers are predators and they share the same characteristic traits and behaviors as other types of abusers. They may have different names, but they do practice the same methods and use the same kind of abusive language. Over the years, I have seen many people, myself included, be called countless names, falsely accused of fad-named diagnoses (mainstream illnesses used as excuses bully people), mislabel emotions, and blame victims for almost everything going wrong in situations. Then there are the ones that take it to another level by adding in the physical and/or sexual abuse on top of it.

Victim blaming has serious negative consequences on victims that may last a lifetime depending on the actions taken during the process. It is a form of intimidation. It is also a form of intentional misperception and misinterpretation. Their perceptions can be transferred onto other people by rumors or mislead them into additional involvement that can cause more harm and aggravate the scenario even further. It can entrap victims for an extended period of time and take away their free will. Victim blaming is also used as a tactic by an attacker to deflect from the conversation and refrain from answering any questions.

Below are some real life examples of how an abuser/rapist/trafficker perceives a victim’s pain and switches the blame to some sort of nonsense medical condition:

Left Side | Right Side

Their action | Blame Placed on Victim

or result of

  • Strangulation = Asthma

  • Groping = Sharing

  • Rape = Prostitution

  • Drugging = Crazy

  • Stabbing = Suicide

  • Bruising = Clumsy

  • Crying = Depression

  • Transported = Partying

  • Knocked Out = Sleeping

  • Dizziness = ADHD

  • Hallucinations = Dreaming

  • Stalking = Paranoid

  • Nose Bleed = Brain Dead

  • Torn Clothing = Working

  • Head Lumps = Bipolar

  • All Over Body Pain = MS

  • Frequent Fainting = Narcoleptic

  • Genital Bleeding = Messy Period (for females)

  • Gang Rape = Dissociative Identity Disorder

See how out of touch of reality Traffickers can be. All of their harmful actions are dangerous. Not just the actions themselves, but also the false accusations of nonsense diagnoses of the effects of their actions on the victims. This is abusive behavior done before, during, and after attacks. Sometimes these occur after a report has been made as well. Things can get out of hand quickly as more people become involved depending on which words have been used also. These words are not to be taken lightly and will entrap victims in the Human Traffickers' web of lies leaving them vulnerable to more abuse by them or other abusers. It also puts victims at a higher disadvantage because of leaving them to "pick up the pieces" to try and undo the damage that's been done in order to repair their lives. Human Traffickers have more influence on other people due to the numbers as there are so many, but there is some good news. They do not have to influence you or your loved ones. Try to distance yourself away from the lies they tell and spread the truth by speaking out instead.

Try to #besafe.
