It can be more difficult for a male to prove he had been raped by a female, but it isn’t impossible. Don't fret. The Sexual Assault Nurse Examination (S.A.N.E. Exam) a person can obtain in the Emergency Room of a hospital can still be used to collect samples to cross-reference with the DNA database. Depending on where you are located, the name may vary, but can also be referred to as a request for a "rape kit" or "rape examination". This information is intended for anyone who has been raped by a female, but the same can go for a male sex offender as well.

Be as thorough as possible while filling out the paperwork. If you cannot remember everything, that is okay. Just make sure to put down everything that you can remember in the correct order that you can recall. Every detail counts. In a future article, I will go over more details on each step of this enduring Exam. But it can still feel relieving once complete when on the road to achieving another step towards justice.

This information was gathered from friends, family, and my life experiences combined.

Inspired by my true story.
