While shopping around, I found some specific products and brands that seemed inappropriate and have hidden intentions that align this way as well. Some of the customers have nicknamed me as Joy over the years while working at retail stores and restaurants around town. There is no J anywhere in my name nor has it ever been a preference for me to call myself that. When referenced to me, it would have an underlying sexual tone that usually fumbled into another sexual harassment encounter. Last year, I mentioned about one of these particular products and saw XXX written on one of the sides of the packaging. Researching further into it, led to more information linking to others from the sex industry and human trafficking world. While some look innocent and do not seem alarming, it can still make a person be curious about how common to see the word Joy being spread around into a variety of consumer merchandise and wonder how much the items are not very joyful at all. It has been much time that these products have been circulating, some of them have decreased in sale or are being clearanced out of stores. But it isn't happening everywhere that I want to be bolder this year than last year with just a handful of products that I boycotted or places. On my continuous search for safe spaces, I am choosing to boycott these brands and add onto this list of suspicious Joy products.
